Intercultural Skills Training

Internationalizing the Educational Experience
Divided into two parts, these workshops enable business leaders, educators and policymakers to examine the ‘Why’ and the ‘How’ of creating 21st century schools that equip students with the knowledge and skills to enable them to compete, create new jobs and successfully adapt to the rapidly changing requirements of a global marketplace.
Qualifications: Chaired state-wide committee to develop plan creating internationally competitive schools; member of “Learning From…” educational missions to Japan, China, India, and Denmark; has met with educational leaders in Ireland, Denmark, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Turkey on behalf of the Visiting International Faculty Program to develop plans to recruit international teachers; chaired the Senate education and education appropriations committees as a state legislator and sponsored and got funding for international education bills in North Carolina; served as member of the education committee of the Southern Legislative Conference and the Southern Regional Education Board; taught at the Tehran, Iran International School.
